FCC 1: Intercultural Leadership: An advanced learning intensive for these times

  • A convenient Twin Cities location between Minneapolis & St. Paul on a public transportation line 2314 University Ave W #20 St. Paul, MN 55114 United States (map)

Our current polarized political climate is increasing stress and trauma for many communities. What is happening in and to our communities is finding its way into our relationships, organizations, and institutions. Many leaders and organizations are wrestling with big questions, including:

  • What is and can be our role in advancing equity given the external climate in which we are trying to do our work?

  • How can we effectively facilitate dialogue, learning and action that increases awareness of both ourselves and others in this climate?

  • How do we productively respond to ongoing events in a way that furthers our mission and clarifies and elevates our deepest held values?

Cost for FCC 1 is $1,200 per participant and includes workshop materials, breakfast and lunch each day.

Facilitating Cultural Change 1 is for you if you are:

  • An individual who wants to deepen your skills in having effective conversations that move through the defensive posture of polarization into more effective connections across difference and/or

  • A person who has organizational roles (formally or informally) in facilitating dialogue within your organization or educational institution about diversity, inclusion, and equity and/or

  • A user of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) who wants to deepen your practice utilizing the Intercultural Development Continuum (IDC) as a model to support facilitation and training

During this interactive 2 and 2/3 day advanced workshop, we will:

  • Introduce a variety of effective approaches to discussing diversity, inclusion, and equity

  • Support the development of shared vocabulary and shared meaning of terms and concepts related to equity

  • Share our developmental approach to equity work and support participants’ developing their own theory of change

  • Provide activities and tools to increase your skillset to develop and deliver effective trainings or facilitated conversations across lines of difference

Pre-Requisites for Participants:

  • Each participant needs to apply to be part of this cohort experience. In order to maximize learning, we are intentionally limiting the group to 30 people, representing a diverse cross section of race, gender and age so we can practice working in a mixed-culture group

  • Each participant will complete the IDI (fee is included in the overall registration cost)

  • Each participant will be expected to complete some reading approximately two hours of learning activities prior to the workshop so we can dive into the material together upon arrival
